Gabriela on the way

Here I am again, trying to to revive the blog promise.
And you may ask who is Gabriela on the blog title. Gabriela is my baby girl, that will hopefully be born in 1 month.
The time is running and I keep asking myself if I am ready for such a great responsibility. I guess this is natural for a first travel dad. I believe I am.

And this is all I wanted to tell you for today :)

2009 Kick Off

2008 is over, you maybe be asking what happened to my announced blogging activity with no posts after the kick off entry. The fact is that 2008 was a turning year. I have moved a significant part of the time devoted to work and free time projects to my personal life.
The result is that I have a much more balanced life. This year I will be a dad wich will be another sweet turn.
Since my online presence was significantly decreased the blogging activity became completely of my schedule. Let's see how it goes this year...

2008 Kick Off

Christmas Holidays are over and a new year has already run for a month. I have gathered a pile of ideas during the holidays. Now just I need to create a plan to be able to implement them without putting in risk the current project's stability.

Past month my major non professional effort was spent on GetDeb, the ease of use and administration expected from MindTouch's wiki VM are over, after running the upgrade script the wiki was broken. I was unable to figure the problem and since it uses technology I am not comfortable with (web services using mono) it was the right time to change. I have selected the moinmoin wiki due to it's popularity across the open source world and also because of being implemented in Python, the programming language that is becoming my standard.

After all this work I am happy with the results, better resources organization with: www.getdeb.net, wiki.getdeb.net, blog.getdeb.net and mail.getdeb.net .

Being myself

This is the first time I have committed myself to blog writing. I always loved writing but I got new interests in life which kept me apart of it for a long time.
I am not particularly in love for the idea of sharing personal ideas on the internet just to be or because of being "public". I love to do it with a specific context or a specific purpose that I believe will be beneficial to readers.
The blogging is starting now because I understood that every person can influence other person's life by just sharing their best ideas or their best experiences at the correct time, using the right approach.

I was born in Lamego on December 6, 1977, sun of a child's teacher which loves child and a business man which later preferred to be a farmer. In 1979 my dear sister was born. On 2004 I found my lovely wife on IRC, she is a psychology doctor with a single patient (myself) and the perfect housewife. I have few but true friends.

My first experience with computers was around 1982, I have touched some keys on a dumb terminal screen creating problems to a company daily billing system, my parents were not happy with my attraction for computers.
Now I am a recognized IT Professional, working at IBM Portugal, performing UNIX system administration and Unix/Windows server applications deployment, integration and maintenance services.

Out of my job I am managing and the best non profitable experience I have embraced so far, the getdeb project.
